NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP: LEVEL 1
I’M JAMES, YOUR HOST
I’m a professional photographer and filmmaker living in Vancouver. I love to share this enthusiasm and experience with others by hosting workshops and walking tours.
Night photography is exciting, but it can seem a little daunting at first. How do you get the sharpest pictures? what settings do you need to know? Why do you need a tripod? Together we’ll answer these questions, and I look forward to helping you capture dramatic shots at this spectacular location!
WHAT WE’LL DO
In this two hour workshop, we first cover the fundamentals over coffee. After learning the required settings on your personal camera, it's all practical. We’ll watch the sky change at sunset and get right into 90 minutes of night photography. I'll be on hand give instructions and guidance.
It's a real thrill to see a dramatic night photo pop off your camera's LCD for the first time, and I'm excited to help you learn how to achieve this. With the basics covered, soon all you'll be concerned about is where to get your next great shot!
You'll be invited to join a private Facebook group, where everyone who's attended my workshop can share photos, help and critique as your skills grow. I'll be checking in there regularly to join in the chat and feedback.
Starting and finishing at Canada Place, we are very close to public transit, Waterfront Station and parking.
WHERE WE’LL BE
Starting with coffee near the Canada Place, our first stop is the viewpoint at the Harbour Air seaplane airport. This dramatic sweep of seaside footpath makes for some great first photos.
From here we walk explore viewpoints along the Stanley Park section of the seawall, across the city harbour reflecting the skyline.
An hour after sunset we make our way back into the city, looking for those final shots from another angle.
